Yes, i remember him always "don't tell anyone i'm a computer geek" - I would always ask him how to fix or do things on the website... so creative just like his mom and dad.
I've always wanted to write something here that will stay here forever that wont fade in time like a Facebook post on your wall but someone can comeback and see all the memories you have been apart of but i never knew where to even begin. I've stared at this blank page for countless hours with no words to write but only tears to shed, i appreciate every single memory I have of you but the fact that you are not around to create any new ones so tears shed as i write this with all the joy and excitement not knowing where to start somewhere but the pain knowing it has an ending
Starting with my very first memories you seemed like you were the biggest person i knew that you knew how to do all the things i wanted to do, like on my 5th birthday i remember being at Nana and Papas old house on Mattos ave it was You, Mom, Dad, Nick, Christina Nana and Papa. you said "Happy Birthday T,your a big boy now so what do you wanna do?" me being unsure of what your up to no good plan was i said "I dunno Derrick, what do big boys do?" without missing a beat you said "They jump off the roof into the pool and make a big splash!!" so that got me excited i remember being scared to even climb up on the roof, and looking off of the edge into the pool and thinking it seemed much higher from when i was down on the ground. you said "we are gonna jump together okay/" that made it easier for me because looking up to you it was the coolest thing in the world to do something the same time you were doing i pumped out my little chest and got confident and said "lets do it!" we took a few steps back and you grabbed my hand.... we took our lunges forward and you stopped grabbed me and threw me, that was the scariest thing flying to the pool and looking back seeing you laugh as i fly through the air flailing my arms screaming as i smacked the water. I don't even think you jumped off the roof or not, i was too upset with you throwing me that you fooled me, but the first thing you said was "good job T, you made a big splash" i gave you the dirtiest look a little kid can give and i remember your laughter made me forget about you throwing me off and how big of the splash i made.
Or the first time you started to teach me how to ride my first bike at mom and dads house on Corktree Ln, it was the blue bmx bike with blue tires, i fell so many times some harder than others but you never laughed to put me down you laughed to pick me up and keep me going and i kept trying to so i could ride with you just being another thing we could do together. And playing baseball in the backyard playing catch or teaching us how to hit a home run, I know Nick still has his first home run ball that you pitched to him. But my favorite was when you were playing football at Piedmont Hills you put all of your football gear on me,the helmet the pads and the jersey you even gave me a football and said "this is how it feels to play football T now look and take a picture." I could hardly see you taking the picture because the helmet was so big for my little self but i sure do remember hearing the click of the camera and hearing loud footsteps against the grass getting louder as they came closer i pick my head up enough to see what's going on and you are right there coining at me full sprint and **CRACK** you tackled me hard enough to make a highlight reel on ESPN, you hit me so hard the ball flew out of my hands and over the fence into our neighbors yard. To this day I;m not sure why it didn't hurt, it was either the football pads worked damn good or you hit me so hard that it didn't hurt at all.
Let's fast forward a little bit, in 2008 after my Junior year in High School I decided to move to California from Arizona and i was excited and i remember you were the first person i told i was coming, I didn't really know what to expect, All my friends i grew up with were in Arizona, you reminded me of friends i had here from elementary school up to 2nd grade that maybe they would recognize me. So the first day of school came and sure enough there were a few people that remembered me and word got around i was the new guy back from Arizona, but that got me the hey hows it going kind of friends, not the close knit friends like i had back home because in the Senior year of High School people have their circle of friends pretty set and closed up. So one day going over to hang out with you after school you told me to go with you to a friends house down the street from you. On the way down there i asked who the friend was you said it was a guy you met that talked to you about you Bumble Bee R6 that he and a few other people rode also and that he had 2 sons who went to my school and to come by their house. That day i met the Cuevas Family, Fred his wife Jamie their sons Jon Jon, Dimitri ((Bubba)) and AJ and their daughters Yolanda and Destiny. At first Fred seemed kinda old to be on a street bike but hearing him talk and laugh i knew he was young and hilarious, Jon Jon is a little bit younger than me and Bubba was my age but we all talked for a little bit to find some common ground and we started to play some video games like any teenager would, we played Halo 3 and Madden for awhile and then went outside to see what you and Fred were up to and you guys were in the same spot just talking about whatever and we all started to throw the football around just having a good time like ive known them for years, I instantly felt included and aprt of something that was the day i met not only close friends that became best friends but now i consider them Family you don't have to be blood to be family you just have to treat someone like it.
a few months after hanging out with the Cuevas family and some of the other guys that you met while riding you all decided to take it to the next step and become a club, but of course you being how you are you didn't want to be one of those guys wearing a shirt you wanted to "Go Big or Go Home" and wear a vest and be and MC ((motorcycle club)) I was a little worried at first because i dint know how that life was but i remember you finding the club you wanted to join that it was called the Bay Area Delinquents you kept saying how bad ass it sounded to say "I'm a delinquent" thats when i met J-Roc(RIP) and Kazi and they didn't look me off like i was some young kid that was just there as the little brother they talked to the same way they talked to you and that instantly tell that this was going to be more than a club that these guys treat everyone like a family of brothers, that not everyone on a bike is a bad guy even though it says "b.a.d" on their back. I remember being at 408s first official BBQ at Cataldi Park, meeting all of the guys of the Original 510 Hayward chapter. We played a lot of fun games like the 3-legged race with the horse between your legs, and even a flag football game where it was 510-408 and it seemed that everyone matched up to guard their equal member of he other chapter. I honestly cant even remember who won that game, but thats not whats important, what was important was that i couldn't even tell that we all just met only a few hours ago.... there was just a strong bond between everyone and i knew that the club was a perfect fit for you. I cant even begin to know how to start all the memories that have been created by the delinquents but there is a lot of laughter, a lot of alcohol and a lot of Jager ((yager)) bombs but yet we still have a lot of nights we remember, but from any delinquent from day 1 of san jose starting when i met them to one that joined before i moved back to arizona or you new delinquent I'm yet to meet they are all a family of brothers that you introduced me to.
